Our Technology

Novo’s Technology Package is designed to comply with the most stringent U.S. and European emission requirements using state-of-the-art technology and controls.  The Technology Package can be used for a wide range of unit and facility sizes.  For example, there are presently unit sizes as small as 50 tons/day and as large as 375 tons/day operating in waste to energy facilities.  Novo’s technology and facility designs have made many smaller facilities economically feasible where conventional technology and designs would have otherwise been cost prohibitive.

Every installation of both the Aireal® Combustion System and the Solios Air Pollution Control System (“APC”) has demonstrated superior environmental performance.  State-of-the-art emission control begins with good combustion to control potential pollutants such as carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxide (NOx).  Acid gas scrubbers with reagent injection and fabric filters control remaining emissions from the combustion of solid fuel.  The overall process controls a wide variety of potentially harmful pollutants including sulfur dioxide (SO2); hydrogen chloride (HCL); trace metals such as lead, cadmium, zinc and mercury; and organic compounds such as dioxins and furans. Sophisticated emissions monitoring systems continuously sample and analyze many of the flue gas emissions to ensure regulatory compliance.  The technology package is a Best Achievable Control Technology (BACT) for modern renewable energy facilities.
